Pertamina Retail Resumes Early Literacy Program at Nelayan Cisolok-Sukabumi Elementary School

Jakarta, May 11, 2024 - This time, PT Pertamina Retail collaborates with Nelayan Public Elementary School in Cisolok, West Java, to inaugurate the Reading Corner on Tuesday (07/05). This activity is a form of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) aimed at facilitating access to reading books in supporting the elementary school students’ interest and reading skills.

Nelayan public elementary school was chosen as the location for this CSR activity due to its proximity to the COCO 31.433.01 Cisolok-Sukabumi petrol station, and it becomes the eighth location after previously being present in seven state elementary schools in Kuta Utara District, Bali, and Leuwi Orok elementary school in Sukabumi. This activity also serves to build good relationships with the fishers, who are customers of the COCO Cisolok-Sukabumi petrol station, the majority of whom have children attending the school.

Corporate Secretary & Legal Manager of PT Pertamina Retail, Ardhi Widodo, stated that the company places high importance on ensuring equal access to education. Thus, adding a reading corner location at Nelayan Public Elementary School proves the company cares about empowering human resources.

"In anticipation of National Book Day on May 17, we are enthusiastic about inaugurating the reading corner at Nelayan Public Elementary School. With this new facility, we aim to provide a stimulus for students to be more enthusiastic about learning new knowledge because we believe that education is the main asset for nation-building," explained Ardhi.

The reading corner at Nelayan Cisolok Public Elementary School is equipped with various interesting books that can be read by students of various ages. Not only that, the room is also equipped with supporting facilities such as carpets, chairs, and bookshelves so that students can study comfortably.

The principal of Nelayan Cisolok Public Elementary School, Muhtar Junaedi, expressed gratitude to PT Pertamina Retail. "We are very grateful to PT Pertamina Retail for being willing to donate various facilities to support student learning activities. We hope that with the presence of the reading corner, students can get new informal and enjoyable learning methods," he said.
