Pertamina Showcases Eco-Friendly MSMEs at Merdeka Bazaar DWP KBUMN

Jakarta, August 9, 2024 – The eco-friendly lifestyle has become a trend among the public. Capitalizing on this trend, PT Pertamina (Persero) encourages its fostered Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to market eco-friendly products at the Merdeka Bazaar, organized by the Dharma Wanita Persatuan (DWP) of the Ministry of SOE, in Jakarta from August 7-9, 2024.

One such MSME is Darabaro Indonesia, which promotes sustainable fashion by using fabric waste from sewing products to create aesthetic clothing.

Dimita Agustin Jacob, the owner of Darabaro Indonesia, is committed to creating fashion products using traditional Indonesian textiles. It includes batik and also woven fabrics, songket, and more.

"The discarded fabric scraps are used as combination patterns in each clothing design. We are committed to continuously innovating and developing fashionable products while remaining environmentally responsible. We want to show that fashion and sustainability can go hand in hand," stated Dimita.

According to Dimita, her commitment to environmental preservation has been well-received by her customers. Her products are popular among Generation Z, particularly outerwear made from woven fabrics with simple designs rich in Indonesian culture.

Darabaro adopts the Japanese boro stitching technique, which combines various leftover fabrics into new cloth through machine or hand stitching.

In addition to Darabaro, another Pertamina-fostered MSME participating in the bazaar is Griya Kain Solo. This MSME is known for producing high-quality batik fabrics, encompassing various motifs such as hand-drawn batik, stamped batik, printed batik, and even songket batik. Griya Kain Solo offers batik with simple, comfortable, and captivating themes, making each creation unique and artistically valuable.

Another participant is Shokha, a producer of prayer garments and headscarves made from comfortable materials with elegant and contemporary designs, favored by consumers seeking religious yet fashionable products.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, said that Pertamina's participation in this bazaar is a tangible expression of the company's concern for the environment because many of the participating Pertamina fostered partners use natural materials and manage their production waste well. This exhibition serves as a public awareness campaign on the importance of sustainable fashion products.

"We involved MSMEs that manage their production waste in this exhibition, demonstrating that Pertamina is not only focused on energy but also supports initiatives that contribute to environmental conservation," Fadjar said.

Pertamina hopes its participation in the Merdeka Bazaar will add value to sustainable products.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
