Denpasar, January 16, 2024 - PT Pertamina (Persero) continues to encourage community involvement in developing clean and environmentally friendly energy based on village and school initiatives. In addition to developing Self-Reliant Energy Villages that have reached various locations, Pertamina is also working on the Self-Reliant Energy School (SEB) initiative. Through PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jatimbalinus, Pertamina is implementing the Self-Reliant Energy School Program at SMA Negeri 8 Denpasar.
To support the SEB initiative, Pertamina installed solar panels at SMA Negeri 8 Denpasar. The solar panel installation aims to create a better school environment and educate students regarding renewable energy transition.
As part of the SEB Program, Pertamina also offers education on SEB development and environmentally friendly energy to students at SMA Negeri 8 Denpasar on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), stated that the SEB program aims to support the involvement of schools and the younger generation in environmental sustainability. This program also encourages students to have a greater impact on the surrounding community through education and renewable energy use.
"The SEB program aligns with Pertamina's efforts to support the government's program, particularly the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), in implementing the values of Adiwiyata," Fadjar said.
Fadjar added that the SEB program will serve as a learning experience for the younger generation, inspiring them to apply these principles. It includes fostering environmental awareness and reducing carbon emissions.
According to Fadjar, this program follows Pertamina's commitment to implementing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically focusing on quality education (SDG 4), clean and affordable energy (SDG 7), and climate action (SDG 13).
Additionally, the SEB program activities include a sharing session by Billy Mambrasar, Special Staff to the President for Education and Innovation and Ambassador of SDGs Indonesia. There was also a sharing session by officers from PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jatimbalinus in the class, covering various topics.
The SEB program at SMA Negeri 8 Denpasar involved more students through the Upcycling Competition organized by Pertamina. This event encourages students to innovate and create tools with an environmental spirit through recycling activities. In addition to students, several officials at the event also actively participated in tree planting.
The Headmaster of SMA Negeri 8 Denpasar, I Wayan Sucipta, expressed gratitude to Pertamina and the government for their support of the school. He stated that the SEB program is one of the efforts toward achieving the goals of a peaceful life.
