Jakarta, February 17, 2024 - Committed to continuously advancing its fostered MSMEs' quality, in 2023, PT Pertamina (Persero) accompanied 1,237 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to obtain halal certification. Pertamina facilitated this certification to ensure that Pertamina's MSME products are of good quality, safe, and halal for public consumption.
In accordance with Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee (JPH), products entering, circulating, and trading in Indonesian territory must be certified halal. The halal certification will be obligated on October 17, 2024.
"Due to this regulation, MSMEs under the auspices of Pertamina's Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) program need to obtain halal certification," explained the Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso.
Fadjar explained that halal certification is mandatory for three MSME groups: food and beverage products, raw materials and food additives, and slaughter products/services.
Regarding halal certification facilities, he revealed that Pertamina also collaborated with various parties, including state-owned enterprise synergy with PT Sucofindo as the Main Halal Inspection Agency (LPH). "Pertamina's role is to accompany and coordinate so that MSMEs can obtain certification through the self-declaration scheme," Fadjar added.
He added that the number of Pertamina's MSMEs obtaining halal certification in 2023 increased fourfold compared to the 422 MSMEs that obtained halal certification in 2022. "In 2024, Pertamina will continue to promote halal certification, especially with Rumah BUMN (RB) Pertamina Facilitators spread across 30 regions in Indonesia," Fadjar said.
Pertamina's assistance through the RB is highly beneficial. One MSME entrepreneur, Tiara Masruroh, from Pertamina's Palangkaraya RB, expressed her joy upon receiving the halal certificate.
According to Tiara, obtaining halal certification is not easy, but with the assistance provided by Pertamina's Palangkaraya RB, her business is now halal-certified. "I would like to thank RB Palangkaraya Pertamina for their assistance and motivation, which enabled me to obtain halal and PIRT (Home Industry Production) certificates," said Tiara Snack & Food's business owner.
Pertamina's consistency in facilitating halal certification across various regions also received appreciation from the Halal Center of Muslim Scholarship (HCCM) of Central Kalimantan Province. The Chairperson of the Halal Center of Muslim Scholarship (HCCM) of Central Kalimantan, Handiyah Tary, appreciated Pertamina because Pertamina's Palangkaraya RB was considered the most active in assisting in obtaining halal certification for MSMEs.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.
