Jakarta, March 17, 2023 - Pertamina's Desa Energi Berdikari (DEB) has been awarded the Fortune Indonesia Change The World 2022 award. DEB's program is recognized for its value to rural communities in improving their well-being and economy. The program is also deemed innovative in supporting business activities and successfully solving social problems, climate change, health crises, gender and racial equality, lack of economic opportunities, and other social issues.
DEB Pertamina has 47 programs consisting of 29 solar power generation programs, 11 methane and biogas utilization programs, four water flow utilization programs, two biodiesel programs converted from household waste, and one electricity program generated from hybrid energy between solar and wind power.
The 47 running programs positively impact 2,750 beneficiary households and contributing to a reduction of 565,855 tons of CO²eq per year. This DEB program has even provided a multiplier effect through community economic activity increase, reaching IDR 1.8 billion/year.
Vice President of CSR & SMEPP Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, explained that DEB is a program that can provide new renewable energy access as one solution to the increasing energy needs of the community. "In its implementation, Pertamina collaborates with various elements of society because we believe that clean and easily accessible energy will pave the way for economic development and community empowerment towards sustainable independence in line with Pertamina's Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitment, as well as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the government's target to achieve Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060 or earlier," she said.
