Pertamina's Desa Energi Berdikari Receives ASEAN-Level Award

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, October 9, 2024 – PT Pertamina (Persero) has once again achieved an accolade by winning an award at the Enlit Asia 2024 event. Pertamina was recognized as the winner in the "ASEAN Electrification Project Of The Year" category on Tuesday (8/10).

Norman Ginting, Director of Project and Operations of Pertamina New & Renewable Energy (Pertamina NRE), received the award during the ceremony held at MITEC in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This recognition highlights Pertamina's commitment to promoting energy transition and new and renewable energy development in ASEAN.

“We are grateful for this award. Pertamina will continue to support electrification efforts and a cleaner, more environmentally friendly energy transition,” said Norman.

The electrification project that led Pertamina to this award is regarded as having a significant impact on improving access to sustainable energy, particularly for communities in rural areas. Pertamina’s Desa Energi Berdikari (DEB/Independent Energy Village) program also contributes to achieving the Net Zero Emission target by 2060.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that Desa Energi Berdikari is part of Pertamina’s Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, which aims to support energy resilience through renewable energy sources while also improving the economy of rural communities.

“Pertamina has developed Desa Energi Berdikari in 85 locations across Indonesia, optimizing renewable energy sources such as solar power, methane and biogas, micro-hydro, biodiesel, and hybrid energy from solar and wind power. Clean energy utilization is expected to spur economic growth and reduce emissions in these regions,” said Fadjar.

Enlit Asia is one of the largest energy forums in Asia, bringing together stakeholders from the energy industry, innovators, and policymakers to discuss current issues related to energy transition and sustainability in the ASEAN region.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
