Jakarta, October 13, 2024 – PT Pertamina (Persero) collaborates with its fostered Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) 2024, from October 9-12, 2024, alongside the 39th Trade Expo Indonesia at ICE BSD, Tangerang. The MSMEs' participation shined even brighter as Dara Baro, one of the MSMEs, received the Best Eco-Friendly Product award.
Fashion products from eight of Pertamina's fostered MSMEs participated in this haute couture event through exhibitions and fashion shows. These MSMEs included Dara Baro, Haluan Bali, Batik Jinggar, Prabu by Yangke, Shamara, Ronald Moreno, Nia Boutique, and Klambikoe by Anti.
Dara Baro, in particular, drew special attention for its commitment to sustainability through its circular fashion concept. The Pertamina fostered MSME was awarded Best Eco-Friendly Product at JMFW 2024. Dara Baro uses upcycling techniques such as "boro" stitching, which involves sewing small fabric pieces together that transform textile waste into ready-to-wear, distinctive, and unique garments.
The JMFW was officially opened by the Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024.
In his speech, Zulkifli Hasan emphasized that JMFW is an international platform that not only showcases the creations of Indonesian designers but also serves as an opportunity to strengthen Indonesia's position as a global center for fashionable, modest fashion.
Director of Finance of Pertamina, Emma Sri Martini, was also present at the fashion show featuring Pertamina's fostered MSME. She expressed her support and appreciation for the standout products from local designers, particularly Pertamina’s fostered MSMEs.
"Pertamina is committed to supporting MSMEs, especially in the fashion sector, by curating their products, improving their quality, and providing access to funding, marketing, and market opportunities," Emma said.
Emma further emphasized Pertamina's ongoing commitment to ensuring the sustainability of MSMEs and expanding the MSME community in the future. Pertamina will also optimize the potential of MSMEs to become a driving force in the creative economy sector, significantly contributing to Indonesia's economy.
Pertamina's support and empowerment of MSMEs at JMFW 2024 received positive feedback from one of its partners, Defria Kirana, the owner of Haluan Bali, who has partnered with Pertamina for three years.
“The support has been very impactful from the start. It is not just about giving us the opportunity for exhibitions. We can scale up because of continuous mentoring and training. We are even trained to meet the standards to export,” Defria said.
Defria added that before becoming a Pertamina partner, her business had not experienced significant growth, especially in experience, marketing, and access to export-related information.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that seven of Pertamina's fostered MSMEs in the fashion sector were selected to participate in this fashion show due to their unique products that reflect Indonesia’s rich heritage. This uniqueness includes traditional Indonesian fabrics and designs that showcase the country’s natural and cultural wealth. Several MSMEs have also adopted sustainable fashion production principles.
"Through this participation, we hope that Pertamina’s partnered MSMEs can expand their market in Indonesia and seize opportunities to succeed in the global market," said Fadjar.
The MSME development program is part of Pertamina’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Environmental Responsibility initiatives, following the commitment to help Indonesian MSMEs level up and expand their export markets to achieve sustainable development.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement.
