Pekanbaru, June 1, 2024 – PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR) Sumatra Region, Pertamina Upstream Sub-holding has reopened the PHR Achievement Scholarship Program (Program Beasiswa Prestasi) for youths from Riau for the 2024 year. This second batch of scholarships is available for high school graduates or equivalent in seven districts/cities within the Rokan Working Area (WK) to continue their education at Pertamina University, Jakarta.
PHR, with the Pertamina Foundation (PF), conducted a socialization of the Achievement Scholarship Program for undergraduate (S1) levels on Thursday, May 29, 2024. The online socialization was attended by more than a hundred representatives from high schools, vocational high schools (SMK), Islamic high schools (MA), and students who graduated in 2024.
Corporate Secretary of PHR, Rudi Ariffianto, stated that the PHR Achievement Scholarship Program is consistently implemented to create superior and competitive human resources (HR) in Riau. This initiative also reflects PHR’s commitment to Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) in education for the people of Riau.
“Education is the main pillar in nation-building. Accelerating the improvement of the quality of young generations is necessary to produce future leaders on an international scale who are ready to face global competition,” he said.
Rudi assured the selection process for the PHR Achievement Scholarship is rigorous and transparent. The scholarship recipients are qualified and intelligent, proven by the ten recipients from the first batch who achieved academic excellence with cumulative grade point averages (GPA) above average or cum laude. One scholarship recipient even achieved a perfect GPA of 4.0. The scholarship recipients have also won numerous awards in national-level competitions.
“This proves that the selection process truly produces high-quality youths from Riau, exceeding expectations with GPAs above the target,” he said.
Therefore, Rudi hopes that schools will continue to motivate their students to enthusiastically compete for the PHR Achievement Scholarship to study at Pertamina University.
“We greatly appreciate the cooperation and strategic partnerships to support this program, including the Riau Provincial Government, SKK Migas, and Pertamina Foundation. Hopefully, this program will continue to produce excellent human resources, who will build Riau and Indonesia,” said Rudi.
The PHR Achievement Scholarship is open to Riau youth with the following requirements: graduates from accredited A high schools or equivalent in the seven districts/cities within the Rokan operational area. Applicants must provide a top 10 recommendation letter from the school principal, transcripts from semesters 1-5, non-academic achievement certificates, and a motivation letter.
President Director of Pertamina Foundation, Agus Mashud S. Asngari, stated that the PHR Achievement Scholarship Program represents a synergy within the Pertamina Group to enhance Indonesian youths’ education.
“Together with PHR, Pertamina Foundation is determined to advance the Riau youths by producing future leaders who are of high quality and bring the spirit of development energy to Riau,” he said.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, emphasized that as a state-owned enterprise (SOE), Pertamina is committed to implementing the TJSL Program to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Agenda 2030.
“Pertamina consistently implements TJSL in all company operational areas according to the priority Sustainable Development Goals set by the company,” said Fadjar.
Representing the Riau Provincial Education Office, SMK Supervisor of Disdik Riau, Nurjasmi, expressed high appreciation for PHR and Pertamina Foundation's continuous contributions to advancing education in Riau. The PHR Achievement Scholarship Program aligns with the government's efforts to improve superior and competitive human resources.
“Through the PHR Achievement Scholarship, it is hoped that it will equip the best Riau youths to achieve their future aspirations,” said SMK Supervisor of the Riau Provincial Education Office, Nurjasmi.
Vice Principal of Student Affairs at SMA Negeri 8 Mandau, Siska Ingriani, welcomed the reopening of the PHR Achievement Scholarship Program for the second batch with enthusiasm.
“Thank you to PHR for providing opportunities for our outstanding students to continue their education to higher levels. We have been eagerly waiting for this. We want our students to achieve and showcase their abilities at the national level,” she hoped.
