Jakarta, July 25, 2023 - PT Pertamina (Persero) is committed to ensuring energy supply reaches households, one of which is through the guarantee of LPG supply. President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, stated that the subsidized 3 Kg LPG consumption has increased recently. However, Pertamina remains committed to maintaining the supply to keep it sufficient.
"This July, there has been a two percent increase in consumption as a result of the recent long holidays. We are currently recovering the distribution process to expedite the supply. Nevertheless, the 3 Kg LPG availability is continuously ensured to be sufficient, and hopefully, within the next week, it will gradually return to normal," said Nicke.
To preserve the LPG stock, Nicke explained that Pertamina, through its Subholding Commercial & Trading, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, monitors the LPG distribution and collaborates with Local Governments to ensure the subsidized 3 Kg LPG supply is targeted correctly.
"One of the efforts we are making is through market operations. We work with local governments to identify locations where we need to conduct market operations. This effort is to ensure LPG stock management directly to the public," added Nicke.
Nicke further stated that according to government data, approximately 60 million households are eligible to receive subsidies out of around 88 million households. It accounts for about 68 percent.
"However, today, by looking at the data, the subsidized LPG sales percentage compared to total LPG sales is surprisingly high, reaching 96 percent. It indicates that some of the subsidies are not reaching the right recipients. Therefore, we are also collaborating with law enforcement authorities to conduct checks and ensure accurate distribution," explained Nicke.
Currently, to improve the distribution governance, Nicke said Pertamina is in the process of registering and collecting data through ID cards and personal identification numbers (NIK) to be accountable to the government. Nicke also urged the public to use LPG for its intended purposes, where 3 Kg LPG is a subsidized product specifically intended for the less privileged.
"We urge the public that if scarcity is found in any area or if they notice any improper distribution of subsidized LPG or misuse to report to 135. That way immediate actions can be taken," emphasized Nicke.
With the community’s active role, it is hoped that they can assist Pertamina in maintaining the stability of LPG supply throughout Indonesia.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.
