Jakarta, May 18, 2023 – Nicke Widyawati, the President Director of Pertamina, has been awarded as an Indonesian woman who drives innovation during the World Intellectual Property Day 2023 by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, themed "Creative and Innovative Indonesian Women: Resilient Economy" following the global theme "Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity." The event took place on May 17, 2023, at the Ritz Carlton.
"This award is a form of appreciation for individuals, whether inventors, innovators, creators, or institutions, who have contributed to advancing the national intellectual property system through various achievements and their best works in the intellectual property field," said Yasonna H. Laoly, the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia.
He mentioned that creating, utilizing, and developing are ecosystem patterns that are already implemented in advanced countries. "Anyone can enjoy and use them, but always to build their country's economy," added Yasonna.
For Pertamina, innovation, research, and technology-driven by all Pertamina employees have been the backbone of the company in providing added value to support new businesses' development in facing future energy needs.
"I consistently urge the board of directors of Pertamina group management and all employees to consistently provide motivation, support, and appreciation to Pertamina's officers who innovate, create works, and explore new business opportunities," said Nicke Widyawati, the President Director of Pertamina.
Nicke emphasized that inventors are the main foundation. Therefore, the role of inventors or discoverers is crucial, and she hopes that the government will continue to provide platforms or forums for opportunities and convenience for inventors to innovate.
"Equally important is the support for accelerating the process of protecting the produced innovative works, which can serve as motivation for improving the innovation development ecosystem and providing a meeting place for inventors and industries. Thus, the innovative works can be commercialized and create added value," concluded Nicke.
Meanwhile, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, the Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, added that Pertamina's innovation efforts are aimed at fulfilling Pertamina's strategic role in enhancing national energy resilience and accelerating the transition towards renewable energy in Indonesia. "Innovation is one of the keys for PT Pertamina (Persero) to remain resilient, progressive, and competitive in facing dynamic business challenges," said Fadjar.**
