Dumai, June 1, 2024 - The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi), appreciates Block Rokan's positive production performance following its takeover and management by Pertamina through PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan (PHR). According to him, Block Rokan is the largest and most productive oil and gas block in the history of Indonesian petroleum.
"This morning, I received a report from the President Director of Pertamina that production at the Block Rokan has reached 162 thousand barrels per day, accounting for 25 percent of Indonesia's total national production," said President Joko Widodo during the commemoration ceremony of Pancasila Day 2024, at the Garuda Field of Pertamina Hulu Rokan in Dumai, on Saturday, June 1, 2024.
President Jokowi hopes that Pertamina's management of Block Rokan is used to the fullest extent for the people's welfare. "The Block Rokan is just a small example of our spirit and efforts for political sovereignty and economic independence, to practice Pancasila in real life, building an economy that favors national interests, and standing on our strength," he explained.
The Block Rokan is an oil and gas block with over 11 thousand active wells and 13 thousand kilometers of pipeline network, approximately twice the distance from Sabang to Merauke. More than 11 billion barrels of crude oil have been produced from the Rokan Working Area (WK) from several major fields, including Minas, Duri, Bangko, Bekasap, Balam South, Kotabatak, Petani, Pematang, Petapahan, and Pager.
At Block Rokan, Pertamina actively conducts drilling programs. Currently, Pertamina Hulu Rokan's oil production reaches 162 thousand barrels of oil per day (MBOPD), higher than the production before the management takeover.
President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, stated that Block Rokan plays an important role in building national energy sovereignty, security, and independence.
"Pertamina, together with the nation's best talents, has successfully managed the Rokan Block professionally according to world-class energy management standards. It is a source of pride and a symbol of the nation's sovereignty in the energy sector. As a nation, we could manage large blocks and compete with global energy companies," Nicke concluded.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
