Jakarta, May 9, 2023 - To support the ASEAN Summit 2023 implementation, Pertamina presents an activity titled "Rumpun Bambu" at the ASEAN Summit 2023 location. The activity carried out in collaboration with the Yayasan Bambu Lingkungan Lestari (YBLL), is part of efforts to promote sustainable development through a green economy, green energy, and green mobility.
The activity centered in Labuan Bajo will take place for a week from May 7 to 13, 2023, featuring several bamboo-themed activities intended to expand community-based bamboo agroforestry in Flores.
VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, explained that the activity aims to invite the public to expand bamboo forests in the region.
"Agroforestry is Pertamina's support in increasing black pellets production made from bamboo. These black pellets can be used as alternative energy, which has lower emissions than environmentally friendly firewood," said Fadjar.
Fadjar explained that the joint activity with Rumpun Bambu will feature several bamboo-themed activities with four main events. Namely, the Rumpun Exhibition, Awarding Night, Green Mobility with Bamboo Bikes, and Bamboo Campus Groundbreaking.
The Rumpun Exhibition will showcase photos of "Mama Bambu" taken from bamboo gardens developed by 388 women in 21 villages in Flores who have successfully cared for 2.5 million bamboo seedlings. The exhibition will also feature innovative bamboo products, such as the Spedagi bamboo bike and a model of eco-tourism bamboo cabins and traditional houses. The exhibition will take place from May 7 to 13, 2023, at the Goa Batu Cermin Exhibition Hall.
The Awarding Night is an award for five young architects who won the National Competition for Eco-tourism Bamboo Cabin Design, as well as participants in the Bamboo Construction Workshop. Meanwhile, the Green Mobility with Bamboo Bikes is a Gowes Fajar & Senja (Dawn & Dusk Cycling) event with Spedagi bamboo bikes exploring the beautiful route of Labuan Bajo to increase public awareness and interest in environmentally friendly transportation modes, including the award-winning Spedagi bamboo bikes. This bike ride will take place on May 7 and 8, 2023.
Lastly, the Bamboo Campus Groundbreaking will be held at the Komodo Bamboo Campus (KBK), an integrated area consisting of a training center, dormitory, and Joint Production House (RPB). KBK will serve as a center for learning, creativity, and the production of innovative bamboo products, which will take place on May 8, 2023.
Fadjar conveyed that the entire events series in the Rumpun Bambu is part of Pertamina's efforts to support sustainable development through renewable energy utilization.
"We are present at the ASEAN Summit 2023 momentum, not only to enliven the event itself but also as part of our efforts to support sustainable development through the green economy, green energy, and green mobility," said Fadjar.**
