Promoting the Clean and Environmentally Friendly Energy Implementation, Pertamina's Self-Reliant Energy School is Present in Makassar

Makassar, January 25, 2024 - PT Pertamina (Persero) through PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi held the Pertamina Self-Reliant Energy School (SEB) program on Wednesday (24/1) at SMK SMTI Kota Makassar. In this activity, Pertamina provided education regarding clean and environmentally friendly energy and provided solar panels to implement clean and environmentally friendly energy at the school.

The Pertamina Self-Reliant Energy School (SEB) program was attended by the Acting Manager of CSR PT Pertamina (Persero), Reno Fri Daryanto, Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi, Fahrougi Andriani Sumampouw, Region Manager Corporate Operation & Services of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi, Wisnu Fajar Baskoro, Headmaster of SMK SMTI Kota Makassar, Basri Nur, as well as various stakeholders including the Special Staff of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Billy Mumbsyar, Head of the South Sulawesi ESDM Office representing the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Eka Prasetya, Head of the Vocational Education Development Center, Setyoko Pramono, and Head of the Vocational School Division of the South Sulawesi Education Office, Yusri Gazali.

Area Manager Comm, Rel, & CSR of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi, Fahrougi Andriani Sumampouw, stated that the SEB program aims to support school involvement and young generations in environmental sustainability. This program also encourages students to have an impact through education and renewable energy use in the community.

"The SEB program is in line with Pertamina's efforts to support the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) in implementing the values of Adiwiyata. In addition, this program is also in line with Pertamina's commitment to implementing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 4, which is quality education, point 7 regarding clean and affordable energy, and point 13, climate action," Fahrougi said.

Furthermore, Fahrougi stated as a form of SEB support, Pertamina distributed assistance of  solar panel installations at SMK SMTI Kota Makassar. This solar panel installation aims to create a better school environment and educate regarding renewable energy transition to the students.

"We also provide solar panels with a capacity of 3.3 KWP that can help reduce approximately 3,250 kg of CO2 per year. These solar panels will be used for learning, especially for mechatronics students, hybrid electricity in the teacher's room and library, and for garden light illumination," he added.

In addition, the SEB program also held a sharing session by Billy Mambrasar, the Special Staff of the President for Education and Innovation, and the ambassadors of SDGs Indonesia. There was also the Perwira Class, an inspiration class filled by Officers of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Sulawesi presenting various materials.

The series of SEB activities at SMK SMTI Kota Makassar also involved more students, especially through the Upcycling Competition. This Pertamina event encourages students to innovate and create tools with an environmental spirit through recycling activities.

In addition to the students, several officials who attended also actively participated by planting trees. "What we do together today will be remembered by the younger generation so that they will take care of the earth, care about the environment, and contribute to reducing carbon emissions with the Net Zero Emission target in 2060," Fahrougi said.

The Headmaster of SMK SMTI Kota Makassar, Basri Nur, expressed his gratitude to Pertamina and the government for supporting the school. He said that the SEB program is one of the efforts to implement environmentally friendly energy where SMK SMTI Kota Makassar also targets an increase in the level of Adiwiyata School this year.

"Therefore, let us preserve the environment as the implementation of today's activities. Awareness of renewable energy use needs to start from now on, and it is hoped that the Adiwiyata program implemented in this school can continue to grow and improve the Adiwiyata level at SMK SMTI Kota Makassar this year," he said.

Vice President of Corporate Communication PT Pertamina (Persero), Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that to support the government's target of reducing carbon emissions, Pertamina is developing various programs involving the community, including Self-Reliant Energy Villages and Self-Reliant Energy Schools.

"To achieve Net Zero Emission 2060, all components of society need to be involved to realize the target. It can also start from the educational environment in schools," Fadjar emphasized.
