Jakarta, August 17, 2023 - In celebration of the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia, PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGN), as Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, collaborates with PT Gagas Energi Indonesia, a subsidiary, to hold the promotional event "Bajaj Gas Bumi Spesial Kemerdekaan". On this special day, PGN is increasing natural gas utilization for national gas self-sufficiency.
"The theme of this Bajaj promotion is to emphasize the moment of emission reduction while addressing the issue of air quality, which has been reported to be poor. Additionally, it is hoped to raise awareness among the public to utilize gas-powered public transportation and contribute to better air quality," explained Fadjar Harianto Widodo, Director of Finance and Risk Management of PGN, during the Independence Bajaj convoy launch at PGN Headquarters in Jakarta, on August 17, 2023.
In collaboration with the Bajaj Gas Community (Kobagas), PGN is deploying 17 specially marked Bajaj units to circulate the Central Jakarta area and then distribute them to several base points, namely Sarinah, Monas, and Gondangdia Station. The Bajaj vehicles, originally fueled by natural gas or Gasku, which were initially blue, have been specially designed in red to celebrate the Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.
Passengers riding the Independence Bajaj only need to pay IDR1,700,- / 8 Km. To facilitate passengers, payments can be made in cash or using QRIS.
This activity will take place for eight days, from August 17-24, 2023. The Independence Bajaj will operate from 08:00 to 17:00 WIB.
In addition to being able to tour Jakarta at an affordable price, 17 lucky passengers are also invited to play games and are entitled to receive LinkAja balance prizes worth IDR500,000,-.
PGN also encourages the public to use clean and environmentally friendly public transportation, such as Bajaj vehicles fueled by Gasku to travel.
"Hopefully, with this program, it can raise public awareness to use environmentally friendly public transportation, using low-emission gas-powered vehicles," said Fadjar.
For your information, Gasku's BBG Bajaj uses Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stored in tanks. Natural gas utilization as a fuel results in more environmentally friendly emissions. The cost of purchasing BBG is also more affordable, at IDR4,500,- / Liter equivalent to Premium (LSP).
In line with Indonesia's commitment to achieving Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060, clean and environmentally friendly fuel vehicle utilization is a tangible manifestation of PGN's continued efforts to drive the transition towards new and renewable energy sources (NRE).
"This activity is PGN's effort to play a significant role in the energy transition era, especially in natural gas energy utilization," Fadjar added.
Fadjar also hopes that the Independence Bajaj activity can enhance Kobagas' loyalty as part of a customer management program and also contribute to improving Pertamina Group’s positive image.
In addition, VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, expressed appreciation for PGN's tangible actions in advocating for environmentally friendly energy use while inviting the public to experience driving gas-fueled vehicles firsthand. The "Program Bajaj Gas Bumi Spesial Kemerdekaan" program, with its affordable and environmentally friendly approach adds to the festive spirit of the 78th Independence Day, providing experiences, services, and travel options for the public, along with education about environmentally friendly and affordable energy to support NZE targets.
"The role and contribution of PGN in achieving NZE are worth acknowledging and directly impacting the community," Fadjar concluded.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
