Jakarta, July 27, 2023 – Commitment to making positive and sustainable contributions to society has earned PT Pertamina (Persero) various awards. Recently, Pertamina received international recognition at the Communitas Awards, hosted by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) in the United States. The award ceremony took place online.
During the event, two of Pertamina's programs were honored in the Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility category, namely the Pinky Movement program and the Pertamina SMEs Go Global program. These awards acknowledge Pertamina's positive impact on society and the environment.
The Communitas Awards, organized by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP) and based in Texas, USA, is an international recognition given to companies that demonstrate their commitment to communities. Communitas Award winners are evaluated based on the level and effectiveness of their programs, as well as the contributions made to society through their developed Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
As a Communitas Award winner, the Pinky Movement was launched in 2020. By 2022, the program had successfully reached 881 outlets and 854 small businesses using subsidized Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), with a total aid distribution of IDR 174.7 billion.
The Pinky Movement is an Environmental and Social Responsibility program that targets Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to upgrade their class through business capital funding and MSME mentoring. The program emphasizes the concrete effort to reduce the burden of the 3-kilogram LPG subsidy, ensuring subsidy reaches its intended beneficiaries. With this program, the opportunities for MSMEs, especially LPG outlets, to expand their businesses have significantly increased by selling non-subsidized LPG. Alternatively, MSMEs willing to switch to non-subsidized LPG can benefit more by participating in this program.
On the other hand, Pertamina SMEs Go Global is a series of development initiatives aimed at enhancing MSMEs’ capacities to become export-oriented, considering exports' importance in supporting regional and national economies. Ultimately, it is hoped that this program will contribute to Indonesia's economic recovery.
"Through the training provided to the MSME actors, it is hoped that the quality, both for the products and human resources, can be improved, thus giving rise to creative and innovative ideas to fulfill market demands. It is expected that these local MSME products can also Go Global and enter the international market," explained the VP of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso.
Fadjar added that Pertamina is committed to implementing sustainability following the sustainable development goals. The award serves as proof of the company's CSR programs' success, as well as showcasing the positive image of the company in carrying out Environmental and Social Responsibility (TJSL) programs and enhancing competitiveness in sustainable business growth.
"As a state-owned enterprise, Pertamina has the responsibility to provide positive benefits to society. This award is both an appreciation and motivation for us to carry out CSR programs following the sustainable development goals (SDGs)," said Fadjar.
The recognition through this award demonstrates that Pertamina's efforts align with Pertamina's vision and the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises' strategy, which encourages state-owned enterprises to Go Global by promoting nationally acclaimed products in the international arena.
Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
