October 18, 2022 - PT Pertamina Group has established an initiative to reduce emissions for environmental sustainability through the Roadmap of Net Zero Emissions until 2060. PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, Subholding Refining & Petrochemical PT Pertamina (Persero), engaged in oil refineries and petrochemical, has several initiatives that Pertamina Refinery adopted and developed to reduce emissions. Until 2060, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, as Subholding Refining & Petrochemical PT Pertamina (Persero), is targeted to reduce emissions gradually until it reaches Net Zero Carbon.
As a learning material, there would be a carbon trading pilot project within the Pertamina Group, which would be held at the SOE (State Owned Enterprise) Conference G20 in Bali. One of them is the Head of Agreement (HoA) signed between PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional and Pertamina Power Indonesia regarding the carbon credit agreement, which will become the basis for PT KPI and PT PPI to follow up in the form of a technical agreement on carbon trading.
The signing of the HoA was carried out by the President Director of PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional, Taufik Adityawarman, and the President Director of PT Pertamina Power Indonesia, Danif Danusaputro in the presence of the Deputy Minister of BUMN I, Pahala Mansury, and the Director of Strategy, Portfolio and Business Development (SPPU) of PT Pertamina ( Persero), Atep Salyadi Dariah Saputra.
"This carbon trading is PT KPI's ESG implementation to support Sustainable Development Goal no 13 regarding Climate Change Management to take quick action to address climate change and its impacts," said the President Director of PT KPI, Taufik Adityawarman.
PT KPI, Subholding Refining & Petrochemical PT Pertamina (Persero), which oversees Pertamina's Oil and Petrochemical Refinery, has long-term goals to gradually reduce carbon emissions until it reaches Net Zero Carbon in 2060 as one of its ESG (environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and good governance) implementation. The company, through a refinery transition project from fossil fuel to green energy, is environmentally friendly to support environmental sustainability in the future. PT KPI also applies the principles of excellent operation, including energy efficiency and other production process to support decarbonization.
In addition to actively participating in emission reductions through carbon trading, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional offered potential investors who attended the SOE (State Owned Enterprise) Conference G20 in Bali the opportunity to support PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional projects that focus on the energy transition to more environmentally friendly energy, specifically the Green Refinery, Green/Blue Methanol, and 2G Bioethanol,
