Strengthening UMK Academy Program, Pertamina Collaborates with Ministry of Trade to Facilitate MSMEs

Jakarta, August 3, 2023 – PT Pertamina (Persero) is making greater efforts to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) entering the global market. Pertamina has partnered with the Ministry of Trade to enhance its capabilities and quality through various training programs under the UMK Academy 2023, initiated by the company.

Fadjar Djoko Santoso, the VP of Corporate Communications of PT Pertamina (Persero), explained that Pertamina's collaboration with the Ministry of Trade aims to increase business actors’ knowledge about export activities. The Ministry of Trade, as facilitator of foreign trade, has a team of professionals who can introduce the export requirements and provide access for MSMEs to enter international markets.

"Through this training from the Ministry of Trade, we hope that the MSMEs under Pertamina's guidance will be motivated to produce products that meet export standards and understand export requirements."

UMK Academy 2023 is Pertamina's program designed to support MSMEs. The UMK Academy program’s curriculum includes progressive stages: Go Modern, Go Digital, Go Online, and Go Global. The collaboration with the Ministry of Trade is specifically focused on the Go Global phase for MSMEs, where they receive a six-month enhancement in product quality, marketing strategies, and knowledge about the export market.

Fadjar added that this program reflects Pertamina's commitment to supporting MSMEs to upgrade, following the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) spirit for inclusive and sustainable economic growth, as well as productive workforce improvement.

One of the facilitators from the Center for Human Resources Training, Export, and Trade Services (PPEJP) of the Ministry of Trade, M. Andriza, hopes that through this training, MSMEs will gain more confidence in navigating the international market.
