Jakarta, October 3, 2022 - The General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) of PT Pertamina (Persero) has assigned Nicke Widyawati as President Director of Pertamina for the second period.
This appointment is contained in a copy of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Decree No. SK-199/MBU/09/2022 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Members of the Board of Directors of the Company (Persero), PT Pertamina, signed last Monday, September 19, 2022.
Nicke Widyawati is considered, by the Shareholders, able to lead Pertamina to carry out the company's transformation while achieving the best performance during the first period of her leadership, from April 2018 to September 2022.
As the head of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati is also considered able to consolidate the company's strength to maintain national energy security and carry out energy transitions in challenging conditions, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, geopolitical conflict, and climate change.
Through the six pillars, Pertamina recorded several strategic achievements as follows:
First: Go Productive & Efficient
Nicke successfully guards Pertamina's transformation into an Oil and Gas Holding with six Subholdings, making it more productive and efficient. Pertamina succeeded in increasing the company's upstream capacity by returning the Rokan block to Indonesia and carrying out massive and aggressive drilling. Downstream capacity has also increased by building giant tankers/VLCCs, 13 new fuel terminals in Eastern Indonesia, and increasing refinery production capacity (completion of RDMP Balongan, Blue Sky Cilacap, and Aromatic TPPI projects, as well as RDMP Balikpapan construction, GRR Tuban, and Petrochemical). The company also made various efforts to optimize costs to generate profits even in the pandemic and the world energy crisis conditions.
Second: Go Global
Pertamina is increasingly showing its existence in the global arena. Nicke's success in guiding subsidiaries to become global players is shown by increasing Pertamina's upstream oil and gas operations in 13 countries, which brings 49.9 million barrels of oil into Indonesia. Pertamina International Shipping's fleet has met global standards and expanded its trading area from 8 to 11 international routes. Pertamina's Green Diesel products have also succeeded in entering the world market. Pertamina's performance has received worldwide recognition, being the only Indonesian company included in the Global Fortune 500.
Third: Go Green
Under Nicke's leadership, Pertamina succeeded in building Green Refinery in Dumai and Cilacap, which produced palm oil-based green energy products such as Green Diesel D100 and Bioavtur. The renewable energy mix has increased through the PLTS construction at 238 petrol stations (Green Energy Station), PLTS in refineries, and upstream oil and gas blocks. The decarbonization program at the refinery and in the oil and gas block has reduced carbon emissions by around 6.2 million metric tons of CO2. The B30 product has also reduced carbon emissions in the transportation sector. For this achievement, in 2021, Pertamina increased its ESG score, ranked 15th out of 251 world energy companies.
Fourth: Go Collaborative
Pertamina develops collaborations with various parties, including the Government, Industry, and world companies. Among these are realized through collaboration with ExxonMobil for Carbon Capture Utilization & Storage, collaboration with Masdar & ACWA for the renewable energy development in upstream work areas and refineries. Collaboration is also carried out with various Ministries to build Pertashop and collaboration with domestic industries so that the Pertamina group's TKDN reaches 60%. Collaboration is also carried out to assist the Government in serving the community in handling the Covid-19 pandemic.
Fifth: Go Digital
In Nicke's hands, Pertamina has built digitalization from upstream to downstream. It is proven by the Pertamina Integrated Enterprise Data & Command Center (PIEDCC), a big data center that control the Pertamina group's performance. Upstream oil and gas digitalization through the Integrated Optimization Decision Support Center has significantly reduced production losses. Refinery digitization through the Predictive & Prescriptive Maintenance System has increased fuel production. Downstream digitization, through the New Gantry System in the Fuel Terminal, SmartMT in Tank Trucks, and digitization of all petrol stations, has succeeded in reducing losses and increasing fuel supply reliability throughout Indonesia.
Sixth: Go Sustainable.
Nicke has also successfully led Pertamina in realizing sustainable growth. Through partnerships and technology, Pertamina optimizes Indonesia's natural wealth into new energy, such as coal gasification into DME to replace LPG, EV battery ecosystem development, gas to methanol, and bioethanol. Pertamina also maintains the business ecosystem sustainability through increasing TKDN and fostering MSMEs. Energy independence is also encouraged through an independent village program that utilizes local resources.
"I thank all Pertamina officers for their hard work and support. Hopefully, in this second period, we can continue to strengthen consolidation in continuing the company's transformation," said Nicke.
According to her, achievements made in the first period are the basis for carrying out the program and pursuing the company's targets in the second period.
As Pertamina's top management, Nicke will join hands with the entire Board of Directors and Commissioners as well as Pertamina Group officers in implementing three main strategies this year. Namely, improving the performance of the existing oil and gas business, carrying out the energy transition, and developing new and renewable energy.
"We will continue the energy transition with strategic initiatives and agendas to ensure energy security in the future while pursuing shareholders' aspirations, namely achieving a 100 billion USD market value," conveyed Nicke.**
