Jakarta, March 10, 2023 - PT Pertamina EP Cepu (PEPC), part of Subholding Upstream Pertamina, continues to improve performance and provide innovation to support national energy security. As a company engaged in the upstream oil and gas sector, Subholding Upstream is currently a national lifting contributor of 68% for oil and 34% for gas.
Based on the National Energy General Plan (RUEN), Indonesia's energy mix composition is expected to be dominated by New and Renewable Energy (EBT) in 2050. In addition, it is estimated that oil and gas energy will play a role in meeting national energy needs. Currently, the Eastern Indonesia region holds natural resources that have the potential to be developed.
As an Eastern Indonesia Region, PEPC attempts gas production as an alternative environmentally friendly energy. PEPC operates in the Sulawesi region through Zone 13 and the Papua region through Zone 14.
The President Director of PEPC, Endro Hartanto, said that throughout 2022, PEPC produced 50.5 MBOEPD for Zone 13 and 3.9 MBOEPD for Zone 14. "We have also completed the Kembo and Markisa drilling exploration wells in Papua with an estimated 70-90% discovery gas. In addition, we have completed one development well and 192 workover well services activities," Endro said.
Exploration is a key to the sustainability of the upstream oil and gas business through exploration activities oil and gas reserves will be obtained for the future. In 2023, PPEC targets exploration well drilling activities in the Sulawesi and Papua regions, including the Buah Merah 1, East Wolai-1, Julang Emas 1 well, and the non-operating assets Riam-1, and Piarawi.
