Badung, September 21, 2022 - Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) used as clean energy for the hotel industry in Bali is expanding. On Thursday (15/09), Pertagas Niaga, as part of Pertamina's Gas Subholding, distributed LNG for SOL by Melia Hotel in Benoa, Bali, which was packaged in micro bulk. It is the second hotel in Bali that uses LNG after the Conrad Hotel, Benoa, in July 2022. The LNG in SOL by Melia will later fuel the kitchen needs and water heating boilers and laundry up to 6,000 m3/month.
Pertagas Niaga cooperates with Laras Ngarso Gede for LNG transportation and distribution operations for the hotel industry in Bali. LNG is one of the best options for industries that prioritize clean energy and the LNG practicality factor because the LNG content is 1/600 natural gas at standard temperature and pressure.
“Gas sub-holding controls the LNG supply chain from upstream to downstream. Thus, LNG supply security is guaranteed. This is also to carry out the clean energy distribution program, which is also one of the G20's focuses," said Gamal Imam Santoso, President Director of PT Pertamina Gas, the parent company of PT Pertagas Niaga.
Meanwhile, SOL by Melia also said that using LNG is the hotel's commitment to supporting environmental sustainability by utilizing clean energy. “We are looking at the LNG’s better quality. We cannot wait for all SOL by Melia in Bali to immediately switch to using LNG," said Agus Antaras Mauro, SOL by Melia owner.
PTGN continues to push the gas absorption penetration in the form of CNG and LNG of 12,000 MMBTU per month supplied from gas in East Java and Kalimantan for the Bali hotel, restaurant, and café industry. This volume is predicted to increase significantly with rising awareness of using environmentally friendly energy. CNG and LNG are distributed by Pertamina Gas Subholding as an alternative for consumers whose areas have not been connected to a gas pipeline network.**
