Jakarta, June 9, 2023 - As a sustainable company, PT Pertamina (Persero) implements a growth strategy by welcoming young employees who represent the future energy. As of the end of 2022, more than 45% of the workforce strengthening all Pertamina business lines, included into the Generation Y or Millennials category, born between 1981 and 1996, with an age range of 27-42 years.
President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, revealed that the future will be managed by millennials. Thus, it is essential to prepare young employees as talented workers. It includes increasing millennials and female workers' proportion in the company's leadership positions.
Through various human resources development programs, Pertamina's employees not only become workers but also valuable assets for the company. One of these programs is the Agent of Change (AOC) program, which aims to attract young workers and prepare them to become future leaders.
In addition to the millennial workers' dominance, Pertamina fully supports gender equality, one of the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Pertamina provides the widest space and development potential for female workers. Currently, female workers in the Pertamina Group percentage stand at 19.4% of the total workforce.
Following this focus, Nicke emphasized that Pertamina encourages employees to participate in domestic and international award competitions. Throughout 2022, Pertamina has received various awards in the human resources field, including ten awards from the Human Capital and Performance Award 2022, as well as various other accolades. "We encourage them to participate in awards, domestically and internationally, to have the courage to showcase their abilities and increase their self-confidence. This preparation is necessary to compete with global companies," added Nicke.
Furthermore, the President Director of Pertamina was recognized as one of the 20 Most Influential Women in 2022 by Forbes Indonesia. At the international level, Nicke Widyawati, President Director of Pertamina, was also listed among the 50 Most Influential Women in the World 2022 by Fortune International Magazine and the 100 Most Powerful Women in the World according to Forbes, Magazine.
Besides having excellent human resources, Nicke added that Pertamina supports people with disabilities empowerment to have employment opportunities within the company. As of the end of 2022, Pertamina employed 49 workers with disabilities, marking a 20% increase compared to 2021.
Through various human resources programs, each worker’s productivity is equivalent to a contribution of USD 332,000 or around IDR 4.9 billion. This worker productivity has increased significantly by 62.43% compared to 2021.
