Synergy, Pertamina, and the Indonesian Army Provide Aid to Kupang Residents

KUPANG, July 30, 2024 – President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, with Indonesian Army Chief of Staff General TNI, Maruli Simanjuntak, synergized to deliver aid to Kupang residents. The assistance was given to Manusak Village's Community in Kupang Timur District, Kupang Regency, on Tuesday, July 30, 2024.

This aid, a part of Pertamina's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, is a collaborative effort with the Indonesian Army. It encompasses the renovation of 102 uninhabitable houses (RTLH), the installation of 50 solar-powered lighting systems, and the provision of 20 clean water facilities. The RTLH renovations have been completed at 1 location in 18 provinces, with 101 locations still under construction. The clean water facilities in 6 provinces have been completed at 9 locations, with 11 locations still in progress. Meanwhile, solar-powered lighting systems are in 2 provinces, with all infrastructure still being shipped to Papua and West Papua.

President Director of Pertamina, Nicke Widyawati, stated that the collaboration with the Indonesian Army aims to build the necessary facilities for the community, thus boosting the local economy. Nicke also mentioned that this is part of Pertamina's commitment to such programs.

"We are very pleased to work with the Indonesian Army. We see that the construction of habitable houses and the provision of clean water are already underway, which is very gratifying because the community is enthusiastic. Water is a source of life, not only for daily needs but also for growing corn and onions. Our commitment is to support more programs like this. We hope for your prayers that Pertamina's business activities will continue so that we can provide even more," she said.

The Indonesian Army Chief of Staff General TNI, Maruli Simanjuntak, hopes that the collaboration between the Indonesian Army and Pertamina will continue, helping more people with clean water and decent housing.

"This is a joint activity with the community, and we have received support from Pertamina. We hope this program can continue in the future. Hopefully, other state-owned enterprises will also contribute, not only in NTT but throughout Indonesia. We have provided nearly 400,000 water units here, and we have started RTLH projects, agricultural water facilities, and solar cell lighting for the community. May it continue to improve," he said.

One of the RTLH beneficiaries, Paul De Costa, expressed gratitude to the Indonesian Army and Pertamina for the assistance. He and his family are happy to receive a new home. "Thank you to Mr. Kasad and Mrs. Dirut. Thank you so much for the help. We have not received aid in the East for a long time, and now we have a house like this. Thank you," he concluded.

Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, added that the synergy between Pertamina and the Indonesian Army demonstrates Pertamina's commitment to contributing towards achieving sustainable community targets. "Pertamina has a CSR program aimed at public interest. We hope these CSR programs will advance the welfare and health of Indonesian people," explained Fadjar.

The aid distribution was also attended by Kupang Acting Regent, Alexon Lumba, Pertamina Commissioner, Simon Aloysius Mantiri, Independent Commissioners, Alexander Lay, Condro Kirono, and Iggi H. Achsien, Corporate Secretary, Brahmantya S Poerwadi, and SVP HSSE, Lelin Eprianto.
