The First in Southeast Asia, Pertamina Patra Niaga Achieves International SAF Distribution Certification

Jakarta, August 22, 2024 - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has once again demonstrated its commitment to sustainability by obtaining the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) for the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA) and the Renewable Energy Directive-European Union (RED-EU). It marks a significant milestone for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) provision in Southeast Asia, further establishing its position as a pioneer in the aviation industry dedicated to reducing global carbon emissions.

Maya Kusmaya, Director of Central Marketing and Trading of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, stated that this achievement is a testament to the company's dedication to supporting the transition to more environmentally friendly fuels. "With this certification, Pertamina Patra Niaga becomes the first operator in Southeast Asia to market ISCC CORSIA-certified SAF. It is a historic milestone in the regional energy industry, opening opportunities for airlines in Indonesia and beyond to use fuel that significantly reduces their carbon footprint," Maya explained.

The certification was presented directly by the CEO of PT Qualitas Sertifikasi Indonesia, Ryanza Prasetya, to Maya Kusmaya, Director of Central Marketing and Trading of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, witnessed by Salyadi Saputra, Director of Strategy, Portfolio, and Business Development of PT Pertamina (Persero), on Monday (19/8) in Jakarta. The certificate was given during the event "Paving the Way to Net Zero: HVO & SAF," with the theme "Driving Change Through Renewable Fuels," organized by Pertamina.

Maya added that this certification enables customers to claim carbon emission reductions from SAF products produced by Pertamina. "With ISCC certification for SAF products as well as Used Cooking Oil (UCO) and Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) products from Pertamina, customers can now claim the carbon emission reductions generated from using these fuels," Maya added.

Ngurah Rai Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT) in Bali and Soekarno-Hatta Aviation Fuel Terminal & Hydrant Installation (SHAFTHI) in Jakarta are the first locations to receive ISCC CORSIA and ISCC EU certifications. AFT Ngurah Rai, a strategic location, is being prepared to support the Bali International Air Show 2024 to expand the use of Pertamina SAF in the international aviation market.

"Pertamina Patra Niaga is committed to continuing to lead in innovation and sustainability, becoming a key partner for airlines in realizing a greener and more sustainable future," Maya said.

On another occasion, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, Vice President of Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero), stated that Pertamina continues to expand the use of environmentally friendly fuels to reduce carbon emissions.

"Pertamina has taken several decarbonization initiatives to pursue the Net Zero Emission target by 2060 or sooner," Fadjar concluded.

Pertamina, as a leading company in the energy transition, is committed to supporting the Net Zero Emission 2060 target by continuously promoting programs that directly impact the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) achievement. All these efforts align with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation across all Pertamina's business lines and operations.**
