In previous years, flagship products from MSMEs were popular among visitors at Pertamina SMEXPO. Pertamina SMEXPO 2023 will soon be held at the end of October in Jakarta and three other major cities, serving as an exhibition showcasing outstanding products from Pertamina's fostered MSMEs.
Thousands of Pertamina’s MSMEs Ready to Market Sustainable Products at SMEXPO 2023
Jakarta, October 25, 2023 - Approximately 1,000 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) fostered by PT Pertamina (Persero) are set to participate in Pertamina SMEXPO 2023, which will take place at the end of October 2023 in four major cities in Indonesia, Namely, Jakarta, Semarang, Balikpapan, and Pekanbaru. The event can also be accessed online from various regions through the smexpo.pertamina.com marketplace.
Pertamina SMEXPO 2023 focuses on empowering groups of people with disabilities or "special friends." Pertamina has empowered more than 500 special friends, where the Pertamina Environmental Social Responsibility (TJSL) program can make people with disabilities more independent and provide them with permanent employment.
One of these special friends is Kresna Patra, who will bring fashion products such as shirts, dresses, and kebayas. As a small-scale garment industry MSME, Kresna Patra is a business incubation program for people with disabilities, offering various sewing and garment skills training. Kresna Patra Pertamina has trained 435 individuals, majority of whom have disabilities. Currently, 57 of the participants have gained employment in a garment company.
Kresna Patra also collaborates with the special friends' group Sriekandi Patra, an inclusive batik MSME for people with disabilities from Boyolali, which provides materials for Kresna Patra's products.
One of the participants in Kresna Patra program, Sri Setyaningsih, expressed her enthusiasm for participating in SMEXPO 2023. "We hope that by participating in SMEXPO, we can expand our network and relationships, ultimately leading to a broader market and increased orders and income," she said.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, explained that Pertamina SMEXPO is a regular event for Pertamina to introduce its fostered MSMEs to the wider public through exhibitions. In addition, there are also business meetings, workshops, and entertainment, making this event even more beneficial for MSMEs and Pertamina SMEXPO visitors.
"This event is eagerly awaited by Pertamina's fostered MSMEs, especially because in previous years, it has generated substantial business transactions and opened up opportunities for collaboration. The significant potential for business transactions during the Pertamina SMEXPO indicates that MSME products have export quality and high market value," Fadjar added.
Pertamina SMEXPO 2023 will be held in Jakarta from October 31 to November 5, 2023. Aside from Jakarta, Pertamina SMEXPO will also be held in Balikpapan (October 24-26, 2023), Semarang (November 3-5, 2023), and Pekanbaru (November 15-19, 2023).
Furthermore, Pertamina SMEXPO always brings a special concept to each of its events. In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Pertamina SMEXPO received the Indonesian World Records Museum (Rekor MURI) award for the most online MSME products at a virtual expo. At that time, the three-day event showcased 1,780 MSME products and recorded over 30,000 visitors to the virtual exhibition and marketplace.
In Pertamina SMEXPO 2021, 30 MSMEs participated in business matching. Some of them could penetrate the export market and continued to achieve a potential transaction value of more than IDR 9 billion from about 20 countries, mostly dominated by the United States.
Meanwhile, Pertamina SMEXPO 2022 generated a potential transaction value of more than IDR 10 billion. Aside from the offline event, it also took place online with a virtual exhibition. One of its achievements was obtaining the Indonesian World Records Museum (Rekor MURI) award for the marketplace with the highest number of supported MSME members in Indonesia, totaling 676 MSMEs.
