Jakarta, September 24, 2023 - In supporting the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) development, three pillars of the Pertamina (Persero) Social and Environmental Responsibility Program (TJSL) have been implemented for the benefit of 3,900 residents. These pillars are Economic, Environmental, and Social Pillars aimed at supporting the communities’ well-being in Penajam Paser Utara Regency and Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan Province.
One of these initiatives involves 50 decent and habitable houses (RLH) construction in the Penajam Paser Utara and Balikpapan areas in collaboration with KodamVI/Mulawarman. Pertamina's RLH assistance inauguration was carried out by the Governor of East Kalimantan, IsranNoor, at the Buluminung Village Hall, Penajam Sub-district, Penajam Paser Utara Regency, on Saturday, September 23, 2023.
Fadjar Djoko Santoso, the Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, stated that the habitable house construction for IKN is one of Pertamina's efforts to improve human resource quality and enhance access to proper sanitation.
"This program will positively impact creating a better, healthier, and more comfortable environment for the community, thereby improving their quality of life," said Fadjar.
The 50 RLH units construction is distributed across fivedistricts: North Balikpapan District, East Balikpapan District and Balikpapan City in Balikpapan, and Penajam District and Sepaku in Penajam Paser Utara.
Mr. Imran, one of the residents of Penajam Paser Utara benefiting from RLH, expressed his gratitude to Pertamina. "We hope this program continues as there are still many people in need of decent housing," Imran explained.
Pertamina's RLH program is carried out to support the government's efforts to build inclusive and equitable economic development in Indonesia. This development also follows Sustainable Development Goal 11, which aims to ensure access to adequate and safe housing, making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. It also follows the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles implementation.
