Jakarta, November 22, 2022 - “Using gas as fuel for ships is proven more economical. For mileage, a cylinder of three kg LPG is equivalent to around seven to eight liters. Thus, you can imagine the price difference for boat fuel for the same distance,” said Tusman, fisher in Kutawaru, Cilacap, Central Java, who has used fuel gas for the ship (20/11).
Expanding the benefits of using gas as fuel, the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources with Commission VII DPR RI, through an assignment to Pertamina Patra Niaga, Subholding Commercial & Trading is continuing the LPG conversion program for fishers and farmers.
“From 2016 to 2021, the government has distributed more than 85 thousand converter kit packages to fishers. Then, since 2019 more than 14,000 converter kit packages have been distributed For farmers,” explained the Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Tutuka Ariadji (20/11).
Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI, Sugeng Soeparwoto, said that fuel-to-LPG conversion would be more efficient and cleaner while reducing pollution. “From the report, a cylinder of three kg LPG is equivalent to at least 7 liters of fuel. It is very economical. For the environment, the gas emissions are also smaller. No matter how small, savings must be made and supported, thus fishermen and farmers will be more prosperous,” Sugeng said (20/11).
The Marketing Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional, Mars Ega Legowo Putra, is committed to continuing the assigned LPG converter packages to fishers and farmers target until the end of 2022.
“Pertamina Patra Niaga has received the mandate to complete the fuel to BBG conversion for fishers in 51 cities/regencies and farmers spread across 50 cities/regencies throughout Indonesia,” Mars Ega said.
Until November 20, Pertamina Patra Niaga completed the LPG conversion distribution for 5,244 converter kit packages for fishers and 6,655 converter kit packages for farmers. Because this is given to entitled fishers and farmers, Mars Ega added that Pertamina Patra Niaga also ensures the availability and smooth LPG distribution through the One Village One Outlet (OVOO) program.
“The continuation of the conversion program can run well by ensuring LPG stocks, through OVOO currently 95% of sub-districts or villages are served by at least one LPG outlet. “Hopefully, this conversion program and package can be sustainable to provide great benefits for fishers and farmers in Indonesia,” Mars Ega concluded.
