Jakarta, August 21, 2024 – In the spirit of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) continues contributing to national economic growth by optimizing business operations amidst ongoing energy trilemma challenges. By the end of the first semester of 2024, KPI has successfully launched 34 strategic initiatives aimed at generating added value equivalent to USD 321 million. It was announced by the President Director of KPI, Taufik Aditiyawarman, during the 2024 First Semester Performance Town Hall Meeting in Jakarta.
Taufik expressed optimism that KPI can successfully implement these strategic initiatives, which focus on several key areas: optimizing intake and products to enhance efficiency in intake management and product sales optimization; refinery operation optimization to improve refinery operational effectiveness and maximize production output; financial optimization to maintain economic stability and ensure efficient financial management; along with other strategic efforts designed to enhance overall financial performance.
Corporate Secretary of KPI, Hermansyah Y Nasroen, mentioned that in line with the energy trilemma challenges, KPI strives for optimal operational performance in the first semester of 2024.
“Amidst the current dynamics, in this first semester, we recorded a 0.5% increase in Valuable Product Yield, achieving 81.8% of the targeted 81.3% volume. Further, the synergy between refinery operation units and affiliates under KPI’s supervision is essential to sustain and improve the company performance,” Hermansyah explained.
The energy trilemma refers to the challenges faced in energy management, encompassing three key issues: Energy Security, Energy Equity/Affordability, and Sustainability. Energy Security is the ability to meet current and future energy demand. Equity/Affordability means access to affordable energy. Sustainability involves planning an environmentally friendly energy transition to mitigate climate change.
“We recognize that conducting sustainable business is one of the stakeholders' aspirations for KPI, which has been integrated into our company's Sustainability Pillars. One of the largest projects managed by KPI, the 'Green Refinery,' is currently entering its second phase and will increase the current processing capacity from 3 KBPD to 6 KBPD, as well as enhance the ability to increase the renewable component in SAF from 2.4% to 100%,” Hermansyah elaborated.
The Green Refinery unit at the Cilacap Refinery could produce low greenhouse gas emissions. The main product of this unit is Green Diesel, using 100% renewable raw materials.
Vice President of Corporate Communication of Pertamina, Fadjar Djoko Santoso, stated that Pertamina supports innovations carried out by all Subholdings and Subsidiaries to strengthen the company’s positive performance.
"Pertamina supports innovation to realize the company's vision of achieving national energy security and independence," Fadjar said.
