Jakarta, March 4, 2023 - The Indonesian National Police Chief General, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, with the directors of PT Pertamina (Persero) and PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, directly inspected the incident location at the Jakarta Integrated Terminal, Plumpang, North Jakarta on Saturday (4/3).
Since the first day of the incident, the Pertamina team and the National Police team coordinated to carry out maximum handling in the field, starting from securing the incident scene, evacuating residents and victims to distributing aid to displaced victims.
"With the Kapolda and Bareskrim teams, we are carrying an investigation, joined by Pertamina. We will conduct an initial check at the scene," said the National Police Chief.
The National Police Chief further explained that the incident occurred while filling or receiving Pertamax oil from Balongan, which was received at the Plumpang Depot. At that time, there was a technical problem that resulted in overpressure, and after that, a fire had occurred.
"This is to find out where the source of the fire came. This is being investigated by the team. Currently, we are collecting CCTV, witnesses, and the things we need are technical, which we can later explain about the actual incident, especially those related to the source of the fire," added the Chief of Police.
Deputy Minister I of SOE, Pahala Mansury, who also attended the visit, said that Pertamina, in cooperation with the police, was still conducting an in-depth investigation.
"So far, we have not been able to conclude. The current suspicion is that there was a technical glitch that caused the burning incident. It is still in the investigation process," said Pahala.
On the same occasion, the Director of Logistics and Infrastructure of Pertamina, Erry Widiastono, said his party is currently focused on providing the best treatment for the victims.
"The assistance in the form of health and other assistance includes people in an evacuation," said Erry
Erry emphasized that Pertamina would focus on treating victims properly, including all the victims' families.
"For people who have lost their homes, we will prepare posts, and those who have passed away will be given compensation to their heirs. For now, we will focus on that first," said Erry.
Erry added, currently the cause of the incident is still under investigation. His party respects the existing investigative process.
"Pertamina cooperatively provides data and information needed in the investigation process," he said.**
