Jakarta, September 3, 2022 – PT Pertamina (Persero) continues to support its 271 MSEs' growth to upgrade and move away from traditional business management activities to become modern.
Old habits such as limited and low machine capacity, limited production sites with low product quality and quantity, semi-manual goods processing, low innovation, inadequate business licenses, and good production management absence have changed their management to modern.
With the UMK Academy, it is hoped to increase foster partners' knowledge and skills to spur product growth for the domestic market and the global market (export independence), improve competitive products' quality and quantity, as well as accelerate technology diffusion to partners through appropriate technology implementation.
All UMK Academy participants in the Go Modern class will receive an online briefing from August 22-29, 2022, with a training agenda divided into three materials.
On the first day, the discussion material was about being an MSE player who was promoted, product marketing strategies, and creativity for product innovation. On the second day, the material provided was about determining goods sold's competitive cost, using technology in promotion and sales, as well as socializing BPOM, IPR, and Indonesian Halal certifications. On the last day or third day, the agenda was for Green MSEs, the Socialization of ISO 14001:2015, and how to become Green MSEs.
One of the criteria for becoming a Micro, Small Enterprises (MSE) is that the fostered partners can obtain certificates and permits for their business, considering that there are still various obstacles for MSE actors in completing the requirements for registering with IPR. Therefore, on the second day of the Go Modern debriefing class last session, Erinaldi Alisman, as IPR 073-2006 Lecturer & Consultant, explained Trademark Protection for MSE Products importance.
Erinaldi conveyed that the brand is part of the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), which consists of copyright and industrial property. The regulation of national intellectual property rights also influences economic development.
Based on data from the Ministry of Cooperatives & MSEs in 2021, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are considered to start paying attention to environmental impacts by implementing green business. It is an effort to reduce climate change's adverse effects.
Meanwhile, MSE actors must first obtain a distribution permit from the Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM), whereby any processed food produced domestically or imported for trading in retail packaging before being circulated must have a distribution permit. Following the legal basis stated in Law No.18 of 2012 concerning food and Government Regulation No. 86 of 2019 concerning food safety.
Susi Arifin, one of the Go Modern class participants who attended, said she was helped by the material provided. This DD Satoe business owner admitted that she could not disseminate her product packaging innovations, because every time she changed the packaging, she still had to re-register with BPOM even though she previously had a BPOM permit.
“This Go Modern class material is very helpful because it fits my current needs. Thank you to Pertamina. Hopefully, there will be a follow-up after this briefing," she said.
VP of CSR & SMEPP of Pertamina, Fajriyah Usman, said Pertamina provides equitable guidance for all UMK Academy 2022 participants, the material presented has also been adjusted based on the fostered partners in each class capabilities.
For Go Modern class participants, the material provided is about marketing strategies, creativity for product innovation, technology utilization in promotion and sales, as well as certification. If BPOM, IPR, Halal Indonesia, and Green MSE have been controlled by MSEs actors, it will be easier for their business to expand the market and get promoted," she said.
Pertamina encourages MSEs to continue to be creative with their product innovation. Innovation is necessary to keep abreast of trends in the market, as well as utilize digital technology to promote and sell. "With the flexibility and practicality offered by the digital platform, MSEs can adapt various business needs more efficiently in terms of time and cost," she conveyed.
Pertamina continues to support SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) achievement through ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance)-based programs implementation in all of its operational areas. It is part of the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) to realize economic benefits in the community.
Through MSME programs and the spirit of Energizing Your Future, Pertamina wants to provide energy that can move the economy-energy that fuels and an energy that produces sustainable growth. As well as to continue encouraging every Fostered Partner to become upgraded and Go Global MSMEs.**
