Cilacap, October 11, 2022 – PT Refinery Pertamina Internasional (KPI) RU IV Cilacap made another brilliant achievement by winning the 2022 Subroto Awards in the "Energy Efficiency in Oil and Gas Safety and Utilization of Gas Flaring in Oil and Gas Activities" category. The award from the Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources (ESDM) of the Republic of Indonesia was given by the Minister, Arifin Tasrif, virtually on Monday (4/10/2022).
PT KPI RU IV winning the 2022 Subroto Awards follows the successful gas flares use, which is converted into other energy sources. "We appreciate all RU IV officers who have strived for energy efficiency by utilizing gas flares. Thus, managing to achieve this award," he said.
Furthermore, the flare gas use can improve the RU IV refinery's operating economy and business considering flare gas is usually wasted that can be reused as fuel gas. "This utilization also helps reduce the environmental pollution effect and Pertamina officer's commitment to supporting efficiency and optimization as a priority for the oil and gas industry," Edy said.
Edy also reminded that there are other innovation opportunities to accelerate the energy transition and support the national target to reduce 29% of emissions by 2030. "Pertamina has carried out decarbonization initiatives through energy efficiency, gas flaring use, fuel conversion, and low emissions tool modification. This success further confirms the Cilacap refinery as a mainstay in maintaining energy sovereignty," he said.
He added that this success is also part of the Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) implementation in all RU IV business lines. "In the business and investment practices, we always try to optimize ESG integration and implementation in every policy," Edy added.
The Subroto Awards is known as an annual appreciation award from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to government and private or individual energy users who have succeeded in implementing energy efficiency and conservation, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The 5th year awarding is the main event celebrating the Mining and Energy Anniversary every September 28.**
